15 April 2008 - Students get a taste of Ready Steady Cook in Joondalup
 |
West Coast TAFE students got taste buds tingling at the City of Joondalup Festival recently cooking up a storm with Ready-Steady-Cook demonstrations, a Master Vs Apprentice competition and cocktail/mocktail making and tasting as part of the festival's new Cultural Café.
Ready-Steady-Cook demonstrations saw four members of the public selected at random to judge the 30-minute preparation of two a la carte meals and then deliberate on the look, smell and taste of both dishes.
Director of the West Coast Academy of Hospitality & Tourism, Patrick O'Brien (left) competed against his own apprentices in the 'Master Vs Apprentice' cook-off. Despite the judges decision going the way of the apprentices, Patrick said the demonstrations and competitions provided second year apprentices with an excellent opportunity to show-case their culinary skills to the local community. |
